Yadkinville woman charged with exploitation of elder

A Yadkinville woman was arrest on Oct. 18 for allegedly stealing items from an elderly person.

Yadkin County Sheriff’s deputies took a report last Sunday in regard to a wallet that was stolen from a home on Center Road. The next day deputies received a call that the suspect had returned to the home in an attempt to defraud the victim again.

Arrested was Mary Ann Waddell, 36, of Yadkinville. Waddell was charged with three counts of obtaining money/property by false pretense, two counts of financial card theft, felony exploitation of a disabled/elderly person, and misdemeanor larceny. Waddell is being held in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $20,000 secure bond.

Waddell has a next scheduled court date of Nov.4 in Yadkin County District Court.
