The Annual High School Art Exhibit will be on display at the library during the month of May. The exhibit includes work from art students of Forbush and Starmount High Schools. Artwork will be on display until May 16. The Reception is sponsored by the Boonville Woman’s Club and Yadkin County United Fund. You are encouraged to visit the library during this time to view their artwork.

Preschool STORYTIME will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday. STORYTIME is an early literacy program specifically geared for preschoolers 2-5 years old. The theme for this week’s program will be “Beach”, featuring the letter “B”. The theme for next week’s program is “Circus”, featuring the letter “C”. All STORYTIME programs are free and open to the public. Make plans now to bring your child or grandchild to STORYTIME.

The 3rd annual Ride for Readers will be held on May 24 . Host sponsor for this year’s event will be the Veterans Memorial Park in Mount Airy. Lunch and live music by 5Play will be provided after the ride. Cars and motorcycles are both welcome. Cost will be $20 for riders, $5 per passenger and children under the age of 12 are free. Proceeds will benefit all NWRL libraries. Save this date and come out and support your local library!

Our Summer Reading Programs are planned! This year’s theme is “Fizz, Boom, Read!” Movie Mondays will begin on Monday, June 16th at 1pm and our Wednesday Summer Reading Programs will begin on June 18 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Visit our website at www.nwrl.org and click on the” Events” section or visit our Facebook page or stop by the library to pick up a copy.

A knitting class series will be held at the library on Tuesdays from 12-1 p.m. Participants will learn to knit a beginner scarf or beginner dishcloth. Classes are taught by Michelle Spillman of Yadkinville. Knitting classes are free and all materials will be provided. No pre-registration is required.

Discover your roots! If you are you interested in tracing your family roots or need help in learning to use Ancestry.com, the library offers a free workshop, with volunteers, J.E. Brown and Patricia Rogers. Classes are now being offered on Tuesdays at 11am or Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Yadkin County Public Library. Workshops are free and open to the public. In addition, all NWRL libraries offer free access to the Ancestry.com Library Edition throughout this year. A link is available on all of our public computers for access at your own leisure. No pre-registration is required and all workshops are free and open to the public. Come join us for an informative session!

Just log onto www.nwrl.org and click on the eBooks icon in the top corner of the page. Need help with getting started? Stop by your local NWRL branch and pick up a brochure or ask a librarian for help.

Yadkin County Public Library is a member of the Northwestern Regional Library system, comprised of libraries in Alleghany, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties. The library’s normal operating hours are as follows: Mondays and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 pm.
