HAMPTONVILLE — On Aug. 6, officers with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the sale and distribution of prescription narcotics.
A traffic stop was conducted on Maranatha Church Road in Hamptonville. During the stop, officers conducted an interview and subsequently searched a suspect’s vehicle. The searched turned up a large quantity of prescription pain pills.
The driver, Jeffery Burns, 48, of Durham, was arrested and charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance, felony maintaining a drug dwelling (vehicle), felony trafficking in opiates by transport and by felony possession.
Burns was released from the Yadkin County Detention Center after posting a $10,000 secure bond. He was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 13.
