YADKINVILLE — Two are charged by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office for hauling scrap metal from a residence and profiting from the alleged theft by selling the goods to a local recycling center.
The incident was called into police on June 2 by the victim.
A Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said the victim was approached by the two suspects asking for the scrap metal, but declined. Later, a neighbor observed the subjects taking the victim’s metal. When the subjects were confronted, they said they were given permission and they left with the items.
Police said the suspects then took the stolen metal to Triad Recyclers in Yadkin County where Yadkin County detectives found the items.
Deputies charged Cory Michael Yopp, 20, of Rural Hall, and William Zachary Lowder, 20, of Clemmons, with one count of felony breaking or entering and one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense.
Yopp was set a $5,000 secured bond, and Lowder was set a $7,500 unsecured bond.
