Local performers in the Yadkin Arts Council production of “Guys and Dolls” will play to a sold out house on Feb. 10, 17 and 18, but tickets are still left for the Feb. 11, 12 and 19 performances, including tickets to a special Valentine’s Gala on Feb. 11.
Featuring one of the greatest musical scores in the history of the American theater, “Guys and Dolls” is a love story about what happens to gambling men and the women who want to tame them. Popular songs from the production include “Luck Be a Lady,” “A Bushel and a Peck,” “I’ve Never Been in Love Before,” and more.
The Gala slated for Saturday will feature dinner and the show.
“It’s an early Valentine’s date night and the best deal you’ll find anywhere,” said Arts Council Director Lindsay Craven. Tickets for the the Gala are $60 and include a cocktail hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Allison Oaks Vineyard, across the street from the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. with a menu that features soft-shell crab appetizers, prime rib with fingerling sweet potatoes, sautéed vegetables and cheddar bay biscuits. Red and white Elkin Creek wines will be served with dinner. Cocktails from Call Family Distillers, Copper Barrel Distillery, Sutler’s Spirits and Mayberry Spirits will be available for purchase.
Following the meal, guests will return to the arts center for games and activities, special one-night only performances from the Guys & Dolls cast and silent auction.
“We have some great silent auction items this year including two pairs of round trip tickets anywhere in the continental US, a float fishing excursion in Tennessee, four Carolina Panthers tickets for the 35-yard line for fall 2017, a golfing package to Bermuda Run Golf Course, a special meet and greet and merchandise package from The Kruger Brothers, beautiful art work from local artists, a photo session with Brooke Moxley, and more,” said Craven.
Guests will then enjoy the production of “Guys and Dolls,” directed by Jessie Grant and featuring more than 50 local performers.
