Two students from Yadkin County are among the recipients of the Dean Prim Scholarship.

Calyn Davis is a senior at Forbush High School and plans to attend UNC Chapel Hill. Sierra Winters is also a senior at Forbush and plans to attend either Yale or UNC Chapel Hill.

The Dean Prim Scholarship was established in 1975 in memory of Dean Prim, a long-standing member of the Yadkin County Board of Education. His family created the scholarship in an effort to carry on his dedication and commitment to education in the community. The fund has grown from one college scholarship offered in 1975 to where it stands today annually awarding three four-year college scholarships along with funding a summer study program in China for the scholarship recipients as well as additional deserving students. The Dean Prim Scholarship Fund is managed by the Winston-Salem Foundation.
