EAST BEND — The Friends of the East Bend Library held its annual yard sale over the weekend.
“We sold $2,128 worth of things and had $1,510 in cash donations,” reported Jan Hicks. “Several people told us they always look forward to our yard sale because we have the best stuff at the best prices. Of course, that is because the community saves us the best stuff. We really appreciate the support of the donors and shoppers.”
Just within the first hour of the sale, which began at noon on Friday, Hicks said that a large number of shoppers had already turned out to shop and assist with the sale.
“We’re very pleased with the amount of people that have come to help us this year,” added Lori Lashmit. “It’s like our momentum has started. This is our third year and by far the biggest.”
The Friends of the Library group is primarily responsible for upkeep at the library.
“We do buy materials and things for the library, but we also take care of the landscaping, the security system and different kinds of supplies they need at the library,” Hicks said.
The group also is hoping to increase its membership, Lashmit said. Parents of school-age children would be a great asset for the group. Anyone interested in joining is asked to contact the East Bend Library at 336-699-3890.
