North Carolina Tobacco International opens East Bend facility


EAST BEND — North Carolina Tobacco International, LLC recently began production in East Bend in the former DAC products facility in East Bend.

The company is owned and operated by Sam Kim, Robert E. Dotson, Edward L. Van Deventer and Kenneth Hauser. These individuals have more than 150 years of experience in the tobacco industry. Production began this week, with product manufactured for U.S. domestic and export markets. Four production lines are now in operation with more to be added in the near future.

“The availability of the facility, along with a highly skilled workforce nearby, made East Bend a perfect fit for North Carolina Tobacco International,” said Ken Hauser, chief executive officer.

“We are excited to welcome North Carolina Tobacco International to East Bend and Yadkin County. Yadkin County is a great place for world class industry to grow and prosper. We look forward to their continued success,” said Kevin Austin, chairman of the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners.

While some employment positions have been filled, North Carolina Tobacco International will be hiring additional employees over the following weeks. Job openings will be listed on www.ncworks.gov.
