Vendors for the Yadkin Farmers Market had their first meeting last week. The 2016 season will kick off on May 3. The market shelter is located at 1141 Tennessee St. off of U.S. 601 North, just past downtown Yadkinville and behind the Yadkinville Town Park and Papa John’s Pizza.
One change for this year’s season is the schedule. The market will not operate on Thursdays this year. New hours are Tuesdays 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On opening day vendors are expected to have strawberries, greenhouse tomatoes, lettuces, greens, onions, radishes, beets, eggs, beef, pork, baked goods and more.
The market is a producer-only market open to growers in Yadkin and adjacent counties.
“Come out to purchase fresh, local produce and support area small farmers,” said Colleen Church with the Yadkin County Extension Agency. “Please share the news with your neighbors.”
