Yadkinville board approves sidewalk updates

During the March 7 meeting of the Yadkinville town board, Mike Koser, the engineer for Withers and Ravenel, presented the board with improvement plans for the Main Street sidewalk located between Jackson and Van Buren streets.

The plans are to include brick pavers, seat walls, and ADA-compliant accessories, as well as enhancement of the downtown area. The project is expected to cost $112,230 which will be paid out of the town’s general fund. Bid advertising is slated to happen in May with construction expected to begin in July.

The board approved the plans to move forward with the project.

Also approved during the meeting was the resurfacing of James, Polk and Cedar streets. The board also approved the Farmers Market lease for another year.

During the meeting, the board and town manager praised all the fire departments, law enforcement personnel and town employees who responded and assisted with the structure fire at a local restaurant on West Main Street.
