Boomer man charged with attempted murder

BOONVILLE — A Boomer man has been charged with attempted murder following an investigation by Yadkin County detectives.

Detectives with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation after a fight was reported on Jan. 28. Deputies responded to an assault at a residence on Center Road in Boonville. After the original report was filed, detectives took over the investigation.

The victim in the investigation had been hospitalized with traumatic injuries after the assault, according to law enforcement. During the investigation, the facts of the investigation led detectives to seek an arrest warrant for an attempted first degree murder charge.

The suspect, Jeffrey Darrell Beaver, 34, of Boomer, has been charged with attempted first degree murder, assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury, assault inflicting serious bodily injury and felony intimidation of a witness.

Beaver was arrested on Feb. 22 at the Yadkin County Courthouse. He is being held in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond. He had a scheduled court appearance on Wednesday.
