A fourth seminar on the 1863 Bond School House Affair will be held Feb. 8, 10 a.m., at Deep Creek Friends Meeting, 1140 Deep Creek Church Road, Yadkinville.
The group will discuss the tragic event of Feb. 12, 1883, when the Yadkin County militia attempted to arrest conscripts with Unionist sympathies waiting inside the Bond School House. Gunfire followed and four men were killed, two on each side of the conflict. Descendants of participants in the affair are invited to attend and share stories, family history, photographs, and the location of their homes in 1863.
The Yadkin County Historical Society is compiling biographies of the participants in the affair for publication in The Heritage of Yadkin County, Vol. III.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Andrew Mackie, 336-428-8471, or email@example.com.
