EAST BEND — A body discovered Monday in a burning vehicle on Aquilla Creek Road has been identified as Charles G. Miller of Winston-Salem, said Sheriff Ricky Oliver. Oliver said that the Sheriff’s Department, Fire Marshal’s office and State Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate, but at this time, foul play is not suspected. Oliver said the cause of death was not being at released at this time.

The East Bend Fire Department responded to the call in regard to a vehicle on fire around 2 p.m. on Monday. Upon extinguishing the blaze, the body was discovered and law enforcement was called to the scene.

Other area media outlets have reported that Miller, 59, was a real estate broker in Winston-Salem.

Oliver said that unless anything changes with the nature of the case that additional details would likely be kept private. Oliver primarily wanted to reassure the public that foul play does not appear to be involved and assure the community that there is not a murderer on the loose.
