Municipal election results won’t be considered official until after the completion of the canvas on Tuesday by the County Board of Elections, but based on unofficial voting results, there will be a few new faces on local town boards in January.
In East Bend, incumbent town commissioner David Frederick has been ousted by only one vote, losing his seat to write-in candidate Mae Luffman, according to unofficial voting results. Luffman received 22 write-in votes and Frederick 21 votes.
Also elected to the town board as commissioners in East Bend were newcomer Kyle Matthews with 55 votes and Larry Adams, the current mayor, with 53 votes. Also elected to fill an unexpired term from a prior commissioner was newcomer George Burns, who received 48 votes. Commissioner Archie Hicks was elected to serve as mayor with a total of 59 votes.
In Boonville, newcomer Devin Carter will join the board in January. Carter received 16 votes by write-in. Incumbents William Paul Baity and Tony Reece were reelected to their seats on the board with 40 votes each.
Incumbents Wayne Moore and Tracy Wall reclaimed their seats on the town board in Jonesville with 117 and 125 votes, respectively. Judy Wolfe also will join the board. She received 111 votes, beating out competitors Tommy Casstevens (85 votes) and Danny Lewis (80 votes).
Yadkinville incumbents Monta Davis-Oliver, Tony Hall and Betty Driver all ran unopposed and reclaimed their seats as town commissioners with 52, 50 and 53 votes, respectively.
