A downtown business owner, Gray Garrison, addressed the Yadkinville Town Board of Commissioners on Monday evening in regard to the sidewalks in disrepair in the downtown area.

Garrison said he had several customers who had fallen on the sidewalk. He addressed the board in regard to looking at repairing the sidewalks, but also to do so in a way which would beautify the area. The board agreed and instructed interim town manager Perry Williams and the town’s beautification committee to look into ideas for improving the sidewalks in downtown Yadkinville.

Rusty Crissman, the town’s insurance agent, also addressed the board on Monday alerting them to the fact that flood and earthquake insurance was now available for the town at a reasonable rate. The board instructed Crissman to pursue the new coverage.

The board also approved several budget amendments on its consent agenda including a transfer from the police department’s federal forfeiture drug account to the general fund for the purchase of uniforms and a transfer of additional funds for the North Lee Avenue sidewalk project.
