Richmond Hill to host lecture on Pearson children

EAST BEND — The Yadkin County Historical Society and the Historic Richmond Hill Law School Commission will present the annual Pearson lecture on July 16 at 10 a.m. at Richmond Hill Nature Park. The society will review the lives of the children from NC Chief Justice Richmond Mumford Pearson’s two marriages.

He married first Margaret McClung Williams of Knoxville, Tennessee. They had 10 children, with seven living to adulthood: Eliza, Ellen, Mary, Sarah, John, Laura, and Richmond. He married second Mary Louise McDowell Bynum of Morganton. They had no children of their own, but she brought a son from her first marriage.
