Summer Reading Programs will be held on Wednesdays, June 15 through July 27 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Movies will be shown on Mondays, beginning June 13 at 1 p.m. This year’s theme is “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!” All of the programs are free and for all ages. Get your Summer Reading schedule so you don’t miss out on our great programming this year. Funding provided by Yadkin County United Fund. Looking for a book you really want to read? Try our NC Cardinal catalog. NC Cardinal is a growing consortium of North Carolina public libraries with the goal of sharing resources and expanding opportunities through using a single online catalog. NC Cardinal is a program of the State Library of North Carolina, supported by grant funds. NWRL is a member of the NC Cardinal System, including more than 120 libraries in North Carolina giving you access to more than 5 million circulating items. All you need to place your own holds on circulating items at any NC Cardinal Library is your library card number and pin. A knitting class series is being offered at the library on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. Participants will begin with learning the basic knitting stitches and begin knitting a beginner scarf or dishcloth. Classes are taught by Michelle Spillman of Yadkinville. Knitting classes are free and open to the public with all materials provided. No advanced registration is required.

If you are you interested in tracing your family roots or need help in learning to use Ancestry.com, the library offers a free workshop, with volunteers, J.E. Brown and Patricia Rogers. Classes are now being offered on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. or Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Yadkin County Public Library. In addition, all NWRL libraries offer free access to the Ancestry.com Library Edition throughout this year. No advanced registration is required and all workshops are free and open to the public. Come join us for an informative session.

NC Works staff, formerly known as the Employment Security Commission, will be at the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays for job assistance. Assistance will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed an hour for lunch. For questions, contact them at 336-312-9960. NC Works staff is also available in the Mount Airy and Winston-Salem offices, throughout the week. You may call the Mount Airy office at 336-786-4169 and the Winston-Salem office at 3369-776-6747. Hours for these locations vary; please call for their hours of operation.

Yadkin County Public Library is a member of the Northwestern Regional Library system, comprised of libraries in Alleghany, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties. The library’s normal operating hours are as follows: Mondays and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
