UPDATED: The event date has been changed from this Saturday to April 23 due to the weather.

Smart Start of Yadkin County will host its annual Play Fest event for families and children at the Yadkinville Town Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 23.

“The goal is to let the community know about different agencies to help families in our community,” explained Smart Start Executive Director Carolyn Choplin. “We have 14 different booths sponsored by different agencies.”

Agencies such as the Yadkin County Human Services agency, the local library, The Children’s Center, YVEDDI Head Start, Project Lazarus and more will be at the event. Each booth will have information about its organization as well as a game for the children to play such as go fish or ring toss.

Bounce houses, face painting, story time, sign up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, free freeze pops for the kids and music will all be part of the day.

At 11 a.m., there will be a special show with husband and wife magicians known as Burns and Company.

“It’s just a good opportunity to spend the morning with your child in the nice weather at the park and find out about some of the activities going on in the community and just have some quality time with your kids,” Choplin said.
