Michael Coats is the new pastor at Harmony Grove Friends Meeting. A muscle car enthusiast, he took an unconventional road to the pulpit.
After working in the automobile industry for nearly 10 years, Coats felt a calling on his life to serve the Lord in a different capacity. Still working with cars, he went back to school for training in ministry. Upon finishing his Master of Divinity degree at Columbia International University in 2013, he served as chaplain at Alamance Regional Hospital and then Laurel University.
He comes to Harmony Grove Friends with a heart for serving the local community and passion for shepherding any who may choose to worship there.
Coats is married to Christi Anna Coats, an author, and they have three sons, Nolan (9), Josiah (8), and Zachary (6); and a brand new chocolate Labrador Retriever, Penny.
Coats and the church family of Harmony Grove Friends Meeting wish to extend a warm and open invitation to any who are looking for a church home in the Yadkinville and surrounding community.
