YADKINVILLE — The Third Branch Cafe, located within the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center, will be hosting “Wafflepalooza” May 5-9 in celebration of its new ownership and to showcase its new menu. The cafe was previously owned by Gay and Kirk Baity until January of this year when the arts council took over ownership and management.
Shelly Holbrook, the food services manager, said, “It just made sense to be all under one management.”
Holbrook has served as the food services manager since it opened in 2011 and will continue to serve in that role. Holbrook is the Baitys’ daughter and she said part of the decision was made because her parents were “trying to slow down.” The Baitys also own and operate the Branch Bakery in Yadkinville. Desserts and baked goods at the cafe will still come from the Branch Bakery.
Holbrook said everyone at the arts council was excited about the change and looking forward to the new menu that will be unveiled during “Wafflepalooza.”
The lunch menu will remain very much the same, Holbrook said, the major changes to the Third Branch menu will be on the breakfast items.
“We are now going to offer real Beligian waffles,” she explained. Bagel sandwiches will be another new addition to the breakfast selections, and a breakfast burrito, quiche and breakfast sandwiches served on croissant, wheat berry, white rye or sourdough bread.
“Our real focus is that we don’t want traditional bacon and egg plates. We want something more unique to us,” Holbrook said.
To break in the new waffle maker, the Third Branch will host “Wafflepalooza” with waffle specials that will include bananas foster, strawberry shortcake, maple pecan, turtle and chicken and waffles, available May 5-9 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The new breakfast menu at the cafe will feature plain or wheat, mixed berries and cream and chocolate chip Belgian waffles daily along with a featured waffle of the week.
The Third Branch Cafe is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. with live music every Friday evening. The cafe also offers both on-site and off-site catering for bridal parties, anniversary parties, reunions and more.
