Yadkin County Extension and Community Association honors volunteers

YADKINVILLE — On April 10, the Yadkin County Extension and Community Association celebrated their accomplishments for 2013 at the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center.

President Lucille Horn welcomed the group to the meeting and reminded all that the 2013 year was a centennial celebration of the founding of the Home Demonstration Club known today as ECA. Olivia (Libby) Simpson, retired Family and Consumer Science agent from Yadkin County, was the guest speaker and brought back many memories of the ECA during her 29 year career.

Eugenia Pearson, Boonville Club, presented the Perfect Attendance Award to Ellen Cheek, West Yadkin Club, for 44 years of perfect attendance. She also presented the Special Recognition certificate to Ellen Cheek for 60 years of membership and service to the Yadkin County Extension and Community Association.

Marilyn Wells, Family and Consumer Science agent, presented the member chosen as the Volunteer of the Year Award to Donna Love, East Bend Club, for her numerous hours of volunteer services in many areas of the community. She was presented with a dozen red roses and a gift certificate.

Marilyn Wells also recognized the Outstanding Club Leaders, Lucille Horn (East Bend Club) and Kathy Kimmlingen (West Yadkin Club) with a dozen red roses. Lucille Horn was recognized as the Yadkin County Outstanding Club Leader for her continued leadership in county and district events and presented her with a gift certificate.
