EAST BEND — Forbush High School senior Haley Lindsay recently signed to play soccer with Campbell University after being offered an athletic and academic scholarship.

Lindsay said she is excited about the opportunity. The Forbush senior said the size of the college, its proximity to home, and program seemed a fit.

Stuart Horne was named Campbell’s head coach last year. Lindsay said she looks forward to playing under him and called it an “honor.”

Forbush Head Coach Kenan James said he is appreciative of having Lindsay one more season. He called the outside midfield and forward, “a physical player.”

Lindsay’s presence on the field has remained a major threat in both high school competition and club soccer where she also played under James.

Lindsay has stood out as a player with exceptional speed, size and athleticism in several state championships and Western Regionals playoff games.

“She has been part of a winning tradition that we are building here, I am hoping for big things for her,” said James. In her three years of soccer at Forbush, Lindsay has scored 37 goals and recorded 23 assists as a team top scorer.

The Falcons girls varsity soccer team finished with a 25-1 record last season.

The Lindsay family continues to build a winning soccer tradition among the ladies. Family member Leticia Patino played four years at Forbush and is playing at Pfeiffer University. Exchange student Emma Sjostrand played for Forbush while staying with the Lindsays as host family.

The family sported “Fighting Camels” shirts and hats for the signing occasion.

Father David Lindsay said, “Haley is very deserving and has worked hard.”

Mother Laural added that she is happy with how the Lindsay women have built a strong soccer tradition, and specifically with Haley’s success and choice.

Great-uncle Thaddeus Polack said, “I wouldn’t miss it, I have followed her from the beginning.”
