Yadkinville man charged with attempted armed robbery

YADKINVILLE — A Yadkinville man has been charged with attempted armed robbery and other charges following a Friday night incident.

The Yadkinville Police Department arrested Ray Antonio Mora, 20, of Yadkinville, and charged him following a reported attempted armed robbery on Friday night.

According to a release from the police department, the victim had pulled up to the intersection of East Lee Avenue and

South State Street, and while stopped at the light, a man tapped on his window and ask for a ride. When the victim got out of his car to clean out the passenger seat, the man pulled a gun on him and demanded his wallet.

A struggle ensued for the weapon and at some point, another motorist stopped and the suspect fled the scene. A short time later the suspect was located by Yadkinville Police officers and Yadkin County Sheriff’s deputies.

Yadkinville Police detectives have charged Mora with attempted armed robbery, second-degree kidnapping and damage to property. He is being held in the Yadkin County Jail with a bond of 250,000.
