Rams hit midway point unbeaten

BOONVILLE - Starmount rolled to a perfect Mountain Valley Conference mark at the midway point of the league schedule.

The Lady Rams breezed past East Wilkes Thursday for their seventh-straight conference victory, 25-18, 25-14, 25-11.

Hunter Welborn continued her dominant play, recorded 20 kills on the night with four blocks, three digs and two aces. Erin Barr tacked on 27 assists, five digs and three kills.

Ashley Johnson added four digs, three kills and three blocks, while Rachel Castevens recorded seven kills, two digs and two service aces.

Alli St. John was an impressive 25-for-26 on serves on the night with three aces, while adding seven digs, five assists and two kills. Leah Simpson was a perfect 8-for-8 on serves.

Starmount improved to a perfect 7-0 in league action, including a 13-4 overall mark.

The Rams return to the court against North Wilkes Tuesday and West Wilkes Thursday.
