A new collection of nonfiction World War II books have been donated to the library. They are currently being highlighted in our “New 14 Day” collection. If you are interested in learning more about World War II or are looking for a good historical nonfiction read, stop by the library and check out some of these titles.

The Yadkin County Public Library will resume our Genealogy Workshop in September, offering assistance to anyone who is interested in researching their family, using Ancestry.com. All NWRL libraries offer free access to the Ancestry.com Library Edition throughout this year. A link to Ancestry.com is available on all of our public computers for access at your own leisure.

The library is going digital! DigitalNC, the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center, now has most of our History Room’s scrapbooks digitized and available for viewing. Log onto http://www.digitalnc.org/ and click on “Collections”, scroll down to “North Carolina Memory”, click on “Yadkin County Public Library” under the list of contributors and then click on ”Scrapbooks”.

The Northwestern Regional Library system now has an easier way for you to give back to your local library….Library WishList. Yadkin County Public Library is a member of the Northwestern Regional Library system, comprised of libraries in Alleghany, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties. The library’s normal operating hours are as follows: Mondays and Thursdays 8:30 am – 6:30 pm and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
