The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshals Service Joint Fugitive Task Force, local Probation officials and The North Carolina Department of Public Safety conducted a sex offender registry compliance check on July 9 and 10 this week.
There are a total of 76 offenders registered in Yadkin County. The check was to locate and make sure all offenders were in compliance with the law.
During the checks, several violations were found and are under investigation. Charges will be filed after the investigations are complete.
Bill Stafford of the U.S. Marshals Service said, “Conducting compliance checks, like this one in Yadkin County, is a great tool for identifying non-compliant sex offenders. Joining with the Sheriff’s Offices in identifying violators of sex offender registry statues is a priority of the U.S. Marshals Service here in the Middle District of North Carolina. When Law Enforcement agencies work together, the community benefits.”
