The High School Art Exhibit is on display at the Yadkin County Public Library.
The exhibit includes work from art students of Forbush High, Starmount High and Yadkin Success Academy. An Art Exhibit Reception will be held on Monday, April 29th from 4-6 pm at the library. Artwork will be on display until Thursday, May 16. The High School Art Exhibit Reception is sponsored by the Boonville Woman’s Club, Yadkin County Public Library and Yadkin County United Fund.
The Northwestern Regional Library system is sponsoring their 2nd annual Ride for Readers on Saturday, June 1st, 2013. Alleghany, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties will all have their own starting points with all routes ending at the Lone Hickory Arena in Yadkinville.
Cost for entry is $20 per rider and $5 per passenger. Food, live music, special appearances and performances and much more! All proceeds will go towards ebooks for NWRL libraries. Call your local library for more details or visit our website at www.nwrl.org .
The NWRL system is holding a Traveling Quilt Raffle Fundraiser now through June 1st. This beautiful handmade quilt was designed by Carol McDowell, an Elkin resident and member of the Elkin Library Board. Tickets can be purchased at any NWRL branch for $1 each or six for $5 . The quilt will be on display weekly at each of the NWRL branches until June 1st. For a complete list of date and locations, please see the Region’s “What’s Happening” page on our NWRL website. Drawing for the quilt will be held on Saturday, June 1st at the Lone Hickory Arena in Yadkinville, in conjunction with our 2nd annual Ride for Readers. STORYTIME for preschoolers will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Yadkin County Public Library. STORYTIME is an early literacy program specifically geared for preschoolers 2-5 years old. The theme for this week’s program will be “A Rainbow of Colors”, featuring the letter “R” and highlighting the literacy skill, letter knowledge. All STORYTIME programs are free and open to the public. Make plans now to bring your child or grandchild for an entertaining and educational experience, with stories, music and crafts as we help get them “Ready to Read” with the “Every Child Ready to Read @ your Library” program.
The Yadkin County Public Library is a member of the Northwestern Regional Library system, comprised of libraries in Alleghany, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties. The library’s normal operating hours are as follows: Mondays and Thursdays 8:30 am – 6:30 pm and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
