EAST BEND - The Lady Falcons keep winning - and winning big.
An experienced Forbush squad has reeled off four-straight victories to open the 2013 season, including three shutouts in a dominating start to the year.
After 5-0 and 6-0 wins over Ashe County and Trinity to kick off the season, the Falcons routed North Wilkes Friday night 9-0 to continue their fast start.
Nancy Rios found the back of the net 17 minutes into the game to jump-start the offensive explosion. Two minutes later, Haley Lindsay followed with a goal.
Lindsay punched it in again before the halftime whistle as the Falcons grabbed a 4-0 lead at the break.
Forbush topped their first-half scoring performance with five goals in the second half, including a 72nd-minute goal by Sheridan Caudle that ended the game courtesy of the nine-run mercy rule.
The Falcons followed up the drubbing with a 3-1 victory over West Stokes in a showdown between ranked teams in the state.
Maddi Morsch scored all three goals to power 14th-ranked Forbush to the upset victory over No. 8 West Stokes.
The win was the Falcons fourth-straight win to open the season, likely propelling them up the state rankings.
At the game, both squads raised money for The Wounded Warriors project.
Forbush returns to the pitch Tuesday night against West Wilkes in Millers Creek.
