The Yadkin Family YMCA 2013 Annual Giving Campaign is going on now.
The campaign raises money for the YMCA’s Open Doors Financial Assistance Program to ensure no child, family or adult is turned away because of the inability to pay.
The YMCA, a nonprofit focused on strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, aims to raise more than $92,000. The funds will support scholarships for Y memberships, after school care, summer day camp, and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a program for cancer survivors, as well as other YMCA programs.
“Donations that support the Y will provide a safe place for kids to go after school, help adults take control of their health and well-being, provide companionship for seniors facing isolation, and so much more for our community,” said Tres Fordham, Executive Director of the Yadkin Family YMCA. “About one in four of our members are on financial assistance of some kind. When you give to the Y, your gift makes an enduring, lasting impact in our community.”
The Yadkin Family YMCA’s current Board Chair is Evelyn Moxley. Mark Moran serves as the Annual Giving Campaign Chair for the branch.
“We need the support of our members and the community to help ensure Y programs are available for all,” shared Fordham. “When you give to the Y, you are helping children build confidence at camp or in sports. You are providing a life-saving skill like swim lessons. You are helping all those in our community who are struggling to make ends meet.”
The YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign provides financial assistance to keep the Y available for kids and families who need it the most. The Y works to ensure everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y and provides financial assistance so no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay.
Donations to the Annual Giving Campaign fund programs that take children in need back to school shopping through YMCA Bright Beginnings, provide a safe, enriching environment during summer camp, and much more. LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a health and wellness program for cancer survivors, is also funded by donations to the Annual Giving Campaign.
