Edgar M. Martin, Jr.(Mickey) originally of East Bend and currently living in Macon, NC, celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday, October 21st, 2012.

His wife, Susan, his four daughters, Debbie, of Clemmons, NC, Marion, of Los Angeles, CA, Sheila of Raleigh, NC and Brenda, of Los Angeles, CA and their spouses, his eight grandchildren and a new great-grandchild, all attended a reunion weekend in Blowing Rock, NC.

A special birthday luncheon was catered and all of Mickey’s sisters Ellen, Mary Ruth and Olivia, of East Bend, as well as his nephew Ed Schreiber and his friend Carol Minton joined them.

The southern luncheon was complete with coconut cake made from his mother’s recipe and peach cobbler. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful gathering of family from both near and far.

Mickey attended East Bend High School and was a member of the class of 1950. He went on to graduate from Oak Ridge Military Academy in 1952 and served for four years in the United States Navy. He is now enjoying retirement at his home on Lake Gaston.
