•6 p.m.-John & Lynne Powell and Friends Bluegrass Band from Mocksville will be appearing at Farmington Community Center on Farmington Road. John & Lynne are members of the Broke-N-Lonesome Band. They play traditional bluegrass, bluegrass gospel and old country. They are a very talented group of musicians who will keep you entertained. Music Starting at 7:00 p.m. Scrumptious hot dogs and hamburgers will be available beginning at 6:00. All proceeds go to the support of the Farmington Community Center. Admission is $5.00 a person. •9 a.m.- Cruising For Carmen’s Cure, Rain date Nov. 3, Join the ride to help out a fellow biker that needs your support. Money will go to pay for medical bills for Carmen Headen who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Starting location is at Nate’s Place at 216 East Elm Street, Yadkinville and will end at the Farmers Market at 1141 TN St. Yadkinville. The ride Yadkin County foothills thru the mountains of Surry, Wilkes and Alleghany County, DJ, door prizes, silent auction, food and vendors after the ride, open to the public. $20 for single rider and $30 for double, vehicles $20. All vehicles are welcome to ride! We encourage you to take a stand against breast cancer, decorate your vehicle or motorcycle and support the cause. •10 a.m.-The Yadkin Valley Chapter of the North Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NCSSAR) will commemorate the 1780 Battle of Shallow Ford at the Lanier-Clingman Cemetery, 9601 Shallowford Road, Lewisville, NC 27023. The ceremony will remember the battle and its importance, remember Patriot and Loyalist combatants and casualties, and honor Col. Robert Lanier and Capt. Frances Anderson Poindexter, two Patriots buried in the cemetery.If the weather permits, there will be a walk to the battlefield, its gravesites, the Big Poplar Tree, and the Shallow Ford.The ceremony is free and open to the public. •10:30 a.m.-The Carolinas Chapters of the Silent Service Motocycle Club in conjunction with the Nathanael Greene Base of the United Sates Submarine Veterans announce a benefit ride to support Joshua’s Angel Center of the Carolinas. Starting from Feed Saks General Store, 7444 U.S 601 Dobson. Sign up starts at 9:30 a.m., $15 per rider and $5 per passenger. The ride is about 3 plus hours round trip ride to Sparta to Mouth of Wilson, VA to Mt. Airy back to Dobson. We will have some rest stops. For 28 years, the Yadkin County High School in Boonville, NC, was the only one for students of color. It produced over 400 graduates. Margie Williams of Yadkinville will lead the discussion.
