Bomb scare shuts down several businesses in Yadkinville

The Yadkinville Police Department received a call Sunday afternoon regarding a suspicious device at Burger King at South State Street.

Upon arriving officers shut off access to areas from Taco Bell to Burger King to Exxon.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Department, Yadkin County Emergency Services, Yadkin County Rescue Squad, Yadkinville Volunteer Fire Department and the Winston-Salem Bomb Squad were called in to assess and control the situation.

The Winston-Salem Bomb Squad used a robot device to retrieve the device and determine whether the item was hazardous. bomb squad officers were able to determine that the device was not hazardous.

Officers have yet to be able to determine what the item is and the investigation will continue into what the item is and how it ended up in that location.
